Why are my front outer brake pads wearing down faster than the ones that are against the piston?

Default Why are my front outer brake pads wearing down faster than the ones that are against the piston?

you would think the inners next to the pistons would wear out faster. Otherwise you could be metal on metal with the outer before your inner pad wear sensor would give you a warning light. This is the case on both front calipers.

Any ideas or just normal? Thanks Gents.

you are depressing the brake pedal with the outside of your foot. use an even pressure.

Default Outside pad would wear faster, lube your pins.

It is a floating caliper with the piston on the inside. When the brakes are applied, the piston pushes against the rotor causing the caliper to be pulled inward on the car and the outer pads will press against the rotor. If the pins are sticking, when the piston retracts, the inner pads will be pulled away from the rotor, but if the caliper does not slide, the outer pads will still have some contact and will wear faster.

Default Right. The pistons will release pressure but the slides don't slide - so some pressure remains on t

the outside pad.
