Why would new tires make more horsepower on the dyno?

both being the same exact size, only difference was 1 set were drag radials which are really sticky and the other set was a hard street tire. The street tire made 40 more whp, this was with javads 80 when it was making 700+whp.

New vs. old shouldn't matter, but *different* tires might make a difference. So-called "whp" (bhp measured at the wheels) is affected by many kinds of losses between the flywheel and the rollers, and tire rolling resistance is just one factor, or could be.
