I totally agree that power is not everything and I have not driven the RS4. I just feel Audi could have made the RS4 more of a trophy/ niche car than a replacement for the S4.

If I'm looking for all-out performance/ track car I would look at the cheaper ZO6 or Viper. If I wanted a super exotic I would look at a Porsche/ lambo/ Ferrari. I have a hard time seeing where the R8 fits b/c it doesn't have the performance numbers or the appeal to fit well into either of these groups (just my opinion having no seat time in any of these cars).

although, i'd lean towards the I6 over the V6
but QUATTRO > X-Drive
but QUATTRO > X-Drive

The great part about this is that there are choices out there and that what is great for some is not for others. Just taking a quick look at base prices (I know Porsches can get very expensive with options) the C4S is in the high $80Ks compared to the ~$110K for the R8. It seems that the GT3 is closer to that price point. In the end I'm not in the market for a $100K car, Audi or otherwise, but if I was I don't think the R8 would be high on the list.

They have more modles. A4, S4, RS4, S5 and better AWD. The BMW M cars are just a different creature all together.
