you may be able to infer such a conclusion with a boost gauge.

Mine tore and my boost gauge would tell me that I would spike to 15 lbs and then go straight into limp mode which limits boost to 5 lbs. So a bad tear that causes limp mode is easy to diagnose. For a small tear I would try pressurizing the intake tract and then use the boost gauge in the car to monitor the pressure versus time.

Yes and no, it will tell you if you have a boost leak, but not where. Try AWE pressure tester
