Default Will unplugging the battery on a jetta (2001) cut the alarm? Help!

I've come to you guys for some help, as such Audi gurus here have helped me with my s4 in the past...

Story: Girlfriend lost her only key, we need to get into the car for important passport paperwork so we can get the passport application rushed, hopefully make our trip to europe. The car is outside our house, and have been debating as to calling AAA to come open the car... Which leaves the alarm...

Now I know the VW's are a more basic yet similar design electronically to our cars... If the alarm does get tripped by the AAA man, which it should, will disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery shut the alarm/hazards/nutty noises off? Or does the alarm etc work of some auxillary power source? Can I unplug a specific fuse? Hazards? Alarm? Alarm horn?

Thanks gurus!

It should, but the worse case cut (or disconnect) a wire on the siren.
