Default Window condensation freezing in cold temps.

All of last winter when the temp. dipped below 20deg, or so the inside of my front and rear windshield would freeze.

So far, I've experienced that once this winter and want to know if there is any way to prevent it? Is there a chemical than can be applied to to window, ideas?

Default Two ways: (1) decrease humidity in the cabin, (2) increase temperature in cabin.

(1) is the easiest, just use your air conditioner for a bit (or the front demister). It's telling you there's not enough air flow (or maybe you're getting too excited when you drive).

Default always does that. it's what you get for having a well sealed cabin

i just run in NON econ mode all winter. i use AC more in the winter than in the summer.

i also try to empty my winter mats when i get to my destination if there is water in them.

also, snowboards and boots go in the thule box!

Default What the posts below don't mention is that the car shuts off the AC compressor

at those temps, so you can't use the HVAC to dehumidify the cabin. When it's really bad, I'll roll the windows down, until the heat is available, then direct the heat to the glass to warm it up. That will cut down on the condensation a bit. Also, shake your boots/shoes off before entering the car. The less moisture you bring into the cabin, the less condensation you'll have to deal with.

Default forgot about that. what's the temp when the compressor shuts off? anyone know?

i'm pretty certain it's above the -11*C we're at here right now.

Default Search.

It's been posted, but I can't recall. The numbers 40F and 23F stick out in my mind, however I think that's the range where you see Mr. Snowflake on your dash.

Default snowflake is 37 IIRC. searched still can't find temp of compressor shutdown.

my friend with an A4 said his car never frosts/fogs like mine does. but i'm thinking it's just this time of year when the car still gets warm in the sun and then freezes at night. really annoying to sit with cold defroster blasting for 5 mins.

...makes me call people i shouldn't.
