Default Window Tinting

Got a fix-it ticket today for having too dark of tints. Does anybody know what the legal California front side window tint is. And even better does anybody have pics of the legal tint.

Default Re: Window Tinting

* Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield.
* Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
* Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
* Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN CALIFORNIA?
Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

* Front Side Windows Must not be more reflective than a standard window.
* Back Side Windows Must not be more reflective than a standard window.

OTHER CALIFORNIA RULES AND REGULATIONS
* Restricted Colors The tint color(s) of RED are not legal by state law.
* Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
* Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
* Sticker Requirements No sticker to identify legal tinting is required.
* Medical Exemption

Default Must allow more than 70% of light in, and even then, it is the cops discretion - i.e., they

don't have to use a specific machine to judge whether 70% of light is coming through.

I don't bother with window tint at all, but then again, that's because my car is black, and I don't like tinting the windows on a black car. Audi's auto glass is already treated to block UV anyway.

Default 0%, you can't add aftermarket tint at all, unless it's dipped from the factory then the light rule

is in affect.

$88.00 fine in CA, pay it and leave your windows tinted.

I thought it was generally agreed that 35% is legal. I had 20% on previous car and had no problems
