Window tinting - Has anyone mixed metallic and non-metallic tint?

I'm baking with the Onyx interior and I need to get some window tint. I've had good luck with Llumar Platinum tint and am considering some 35%. I don't want to use the metallic tint on the rear window because I don't want to sacrifice my V1 performance or my AM reception (Vikings games, MN Wild this fall, etc.) Has anyone used the Platinum tint on the side windows and gone with the non-metallic charcoal tint on the rear window? Do the two tints look hugely different once they are installed? The two small samples I looked at look very similar. Thanks.

I just had my S4 tinted with Llumar full metallic (38%) all around, and my AM radio reception has been unaffected. I suppose YMMV, as different cities have differing AM strengths, but you never know.

I did exactly the same thing (same tint, same opacity). I think that my AM reception has been affected slightly, though the stations I listen to in the So Cal area have strong signals. Not enough to matter. On the other hand, V1 will probably be affected. I don't have one, but I might have the back re-done anyway. (my installer said he'd do it for free if I had radio trouble)

I had Platinum installed on my '96 A6 and AM reception became terrible. Maybe the S4 has a different system.

My tint is Llumar's Centaur brand film, which is their current top-of-the-line metallic tint. Their literature claims it's a generation ahead of the previous titanium metallic films. Perhaps they've improved the radio reception degradation problem with this new product? Dunno. You'd have to ask Llumar.

...but I did have problems with Formula One metallic on my '96 A4 with AM reception (it all but disappeared -- not really listenable).

30% metallic on the sides and 20% non-metallic on the rear. I had bad AM reception when I had metallic on the rear of my previous car.
Click the pic for a few more pics. You cannot tell a difference between the two films besides the fact that rear is a bit darker.
btw, the tint on some pics may look darker than it really is due to the lighting and such...
