So about two weeks ago some car/truck throws up a nice big rock and puts a ding in my windshield...passenger side, thank god...and it proceeds to make a crack of about 6-7 inches. So I call my insurance company, Farmers, and they direct me to the Windshield program they have with Safelite Autoglass (nationally?). So we schedule an appointment to get it repaired...someone shows up at the appointed time...but says he is just checking out what is needed. What? So he goes away telling me they have to order the moulding at the top of the windshield. This is on a Monday..LAST week. So I wait..and wait...and wait..so by Monday of the next week I am trying to find out what is up. I end up talking to some centralized Safelite customer service office in Cleveland or close to there. The person can't help...all they can do is schedule NEW appointments. I call on Tuesday and try to talk to the local Safelite office...and because they can't answer the phone (other calls?) my call is directed to that centralized office again. Drat. So, I hang up and call again to the local office in about 1-2 hours. Finally get Delores...and she says that they are waiting for parts. I said "huh"? This was ordered over 8 days ago. She said someone would call me back later in the day and give me an update. No call. I call again on Wednesday, get Delores again..and she states they are still waiting for it. I ask what dealer are they getting it from..they say Carlsen Porsche Audi in Palo Alto. I call them and get the REAL POOP on what is up. Seems the moulding and windshield have been sitting there for days...Safelite is behind in their payments (in arrears) and they will not release the parts unless they get a check from Safelite. This is on Wednesday. Here it is Friday...still no word...they said they requested a rush check sent from Safelite in Cleveland..and it should arrive on Thursday, Did it? If it does they can install my window on Friday. Well, sorry Charlie...I am moving my office on Friday...and will be leaving the office at about lunch time. So, since they haven't called me on Thursday...what are the odds that it will be fixed on Friday morning? Lets see...I say 1 in a million...don't you agree?
So, best case it will be done on Monday next week. Nothing like waiting three weeks to get a windshield replaced.
Suffice it to say this has perturbed me enough to warrant a complaint letter to Farmers Insurance concerning their alliance with Safeliite Auto Glass. This is not normal for me...I don't do complaint letters. I have only done one ever...to Gateway Computers. So I am pretty pissed to get me to write this letter.
Anyway, just a heads up for anybody in the Bay Area working with Safelite Auto Glass.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>

after installation the mirror is too high so the little middle sunshade hits the mirror and they couldn't put the plastic cover over the wires for the mirror.
