Winter is coming! - installation of oil pan heater

Just finished installing an oil pan heater on the S4. I figure warm oil equals easier starting, less wear, quicker warm-up of the interior heater and less time waiting for the oil temperature to come up before engaging in a little winter fun!
115 VAC, 250 watt Proheat oil pan heater. $59 including shipping.

Sweet, used to have a water one on my dodge, didn't get the motor very warm, but helped the heater
tons 
Been meaning to do an oilpan one on the S4 forever, and maybe on the trans too.
So far the redline Piggie put in has fixed my cold shifting issues even in high 20F weather, so may be able to skip that..

This one seemed to heat the oil pan up nicely.
I played with it a little and it would put out good heat. The oil pan would spread the heat pretty good. I will have to wait until it is cold out to really put it to the test though.
This is only going to heat the engine oil and maybe slowly some of the engine above it as the heat rises (assuming it is left on long enough). I think it would be too much to ask that it also heated the transmission too.

Trans would be harder, but even if it only got it to say 50F+ it'd be a big help on stock fluid.
Last three winters I'd have to do a 1-3 shift for the first few miles.
If they flex enough a 500w would have to do something down there

They specifically warn against exceeding the recommended size
Proheat claims that the 250 watt one that I used will heat 6 quarts of oil from -40F to +60F in less than 2 hours. That seems quite reasonable to me. :-)
