Default Unfortunately, I am...

Still young enough to go out and tear up a snowy parking lot though

Default Oh boy did I get in trouble the last time I did that!

Default I didn't see battery heaters in use in Canada when I lived there, but I was reading

a book on Siberia (The Whispering of Stars) and it described how the truck drivers place a blanket over the vehicle's engine on winter nights to keep in the heat.

Default Heh. Its all about selection of the right spot...

There are a few isolated/abandoned parking lots around that you can pretty much do whatever you want w/o being seen.

Of course there's the big movie theater/shopping center across the street from my office that I head to on my way to work to burn a few fresh snow donuts before I start my day. The workers are always busy plowing but don't seem to mind too much (or I'm gone before they have a chance to get upset). On occasion, I've even seen the snow removal crew bust out a few donuts of their own

Default The blanket trick is necessary if the wind is blowing and the vehicle is outside.

Else no amount of heat will work. The air continuously carries it away.

In Alaska, the bush pilots will drain the oil at night and heat it up in the wife's soup pot in the morning. Seriously!! :-)

Default D'oh! Well if you want to venture off campus...

I might be able to clue you in on a few spots once the snow starts.

Default This lot was great when it was a shut down GM plant, no curbs, no concrete blocks, no light poles

Not sure how it will be now that it's being made into a business park..
