Default Winter Tire Recomendation?

I am looking into getting a set of winter tires to mount on my stock wheels and was wondering what you guys suggest. I live in Kansas so snow is normal but not for too long. thanks

Default Blizzak LM-22 always worked well for me here in NJ. Just picked up some new LM-25's for this season.

The LM-22 was H-rated and the new LM-25 is V-rated. I ran the LM-22 in 225/45-17 and will be using 225/40-18 for the LM-25.

If you have a real winter season but not daily snow and ice, you probably can't got wrong with any of the H/V rated dedicated winter tires.

Default Dunlop Wintersport M2/M3 work well in the KC area.

Where are you located specifically? I think I recognize your username - are you on the kcaudi Yahoo board?

2nd... M2's on the S4, and M3's on the R32. Both are great in snow, wet, and even dry.

Default 2nd the Dunlop M3's

There one of the highest rated snow tires out and have great dry pavement traction unlike most other snow tires sloppy dry traction behaviors

Some also lean towards the Nokian WR's because there similar with there snow and dry pavement performances but both tires are at the top of there class and u cant go wrong with either

I on the other hand live in michigan where it doesnt really snow that ofter
I went with the continental ContiExtremeContacts
There Dry,Wet and snow tractions are all rated at atleast an 8 a peice and there mad cheap
They worked good on my RWD M3 in the snow so im sure they will do great on the Audi
I just got them put on this morning and the set only costed me $550 installed

Dry traction is important in areas that don't get a lot of snow.

Default 2nd, bought the new LM-25s last year (which are different than LM-22s in other ways) ... They were

amazing .. I had to drive to work 20 miles in a blizzard and was having so much fun i drove down to Jackson NJ (another hour and a half drive), then drove back home (another hour) .. all in a snowstorm ... the car never gave once .. i was able to toy it around and it responded beautifully. I've only used these and i see no reason to try any other brand myself, these did exactly what i wanted.
