Default You don't NEED XL, but its nice sometimes for pothole resistance

and for cutting through slush and ish.

great tire for the snow and moderate dry. Overall quiet tire. On my second set.

Default Great tire. IMHO: as long as a tire has a load index of 91 or higher, you're fine. The OEM tires

were Pirelli P6000 with a load index of 91 or Bridgestone Potezna RE040 with a load index of 94. I'm not sure what the minimum load index per Audi is (maybe even lower than 91?)...but regardless, 91 or higher = good to go.

All that said, I'd go with the XL over SL.

Default Two very different tires. Cant speak for the Hakka's but if you want traction

and can sacrifice some dry road performance the blizzak ws-60 or mich xi2 are very good.

For snow, the Dunlop Wintersport 3D outperforms the Conti all-season.

the xl's don't cost that much extra. more than enough for a kansas city winter.
