Default Sounds like you really to need to clean your windshield. (more) ...

When I worked at a GM dealership in the early 90's and our customers had skipping wipers due to dirt/oil build-up (sounds like your problem) our techs would wash the windshields down with Bon Ami.
Bon Ami is basically the same as GM's heavy duty Windshield scrub. It worked great and did not scratch the glass at all!

Default There's your problem, then. Use OEM blades and you'll be fine.

I just don't understand why some people are so adverse to using OEM replacement products when they worked very well from the factory...

Default Even new wiper blades start chattering across my windshield ...

5 minutes after the dealer replaces them. I was wondering if the wiper mechanism had too much slack in it allowing the arms to chatter. I hate the fact that I can get into any cheap car and the wipers are silent and mine aren't.

Default Here's what I did.

take the wiper, and twist the entire blade holder down

Grab the wiper on both side, either side of where it attaches to the arm from the front of the car, and twist forward (opposite way you would give gas to a motorcycle).

Basically, if the wiper is exactly perpendicular to the windshield, it will chatter. You have to give it a leading edge and it won't chatter.

Worked for me with stock Audi wipers.

So does that help eliminate streaking in addition to chatter?

Default believe it or not, my father taught me this........

Use Bon Ami cleanser on the windshield to get all the grime and contaminents off. I use it quarterly on all my cars and have since I got my first car. Works great, about .77 a can. And no, it will not scratch your glass, use can also on ceramic cook tops. Just what I do (as a matter a fact, I have to do it to the S, haven't yet) Dave (It took care of that problem for me)
Just my .02
