Is it worth the extra $ to get your tires road force balanced?

YES. But only if they do it properly. The way Hunter intends the balancer to be utilized is such . .

Each rim without tire, is indexed on the balancer to find the balance of the rim.
Then the new tires are mounted using the factory color coded balance stamps aligned with the index marks of the wheel.
Then the pneumatic roller applies weight to the tire/wheel assembly and measures the balance with what I can only explain as an optical "Hall" sensor. I have a pic somewhere . . .
OEM Warranty required process for a number of manufacturers including BMW and Mercedes Benz.

http://gsp9700.com</a

They often call it ride match and charge $25/tire. I bust their *** because they don't index the
rims. I get it for cheaper because I'm training these poor guys that don't get the training they're entitled to.

I found the same problem...alot of the guys don't ride match and charge $30 p tire...
A local guy here "Hubcap Heaven" ride matched (marking the tires) and only charged me $77 including disposal, quality valve stems. I think he said he dialed his machine down to 18lbs but most of my tires were right at 9lbs. Not exactly sure what that means but he knew what he was doing.
He had to turn one of my tires since the wheel was very slightly warped.
In the end I was very very impressed!

Yes. Like Jeff said have the wheels done first! I discovered 3 bent wheels by doing this. I bought -
used wheels and basically got scammed. I had them tested first before mounting the tires to make sure they were true.
Plus when you mount the tire and have them tested your mind will be at peace knowing that the car isn't going to shake at 80+ mph.

Thats part of the benefit, with this system you can put a bent rim with a tire and have it work.
but the system also notifies the "technician" if the pair can be balanced to "spec" or not.

I'll also note that if you have quality valve stem caps...
they can be somewhat heavy and can throw the balance of the tire of by a good bit if they aren't balanced with the setup. You wouldn't think it could have that much of an affect but it does.
