Default Would you build an engine with 52k mi?

So would you put rods in an engine in pristine condition with ~52kmi, or would you buy one with higher mileage to build and sell the pristine one (for hopefully more than the one you bought)? An older one could easily have whatever repaired/refreshed rather easily and alot of the same gaskets would have to be replaced anyways as preventative maintenance in the 52k-er if I were to build that. The only modification would be rods and new bearings.

I ask because I'm contemplating getting rods, but I feel it's a waste to do this on an engine that I looked so long for (and paid a premium for) and made sure it had good maintenance and low miles.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Default You don't need rods.......unless you are looking for huge HP.

You can easily and safely put 500 whp down with a stock block and internals.

Default Debatable.

There are many incidences of 460-470whp motors bending rods, but good tuning is important to avoid that. I just think that you are rolling the dice running over 450~whp without rods.If you contemplate going stage 3+, IMO sell the motor, rebuild an older cheaper one.

Default This is the motor in your car, no? If that's the case, buy a higher-mileage one and build it...

outside of the car. Take your time doin' stuff, cams, heads...it will enable you to get what you want without the pressures of your only motor needing to motivate your car.

Sell everything including the car and buy a stage 3+ car.

Default How much do you think you will sell your 52k motor for? From what I know, if you bought a block ...

with over 150k miles let's say, you would also want to replace the heads. I would more than likely want to do RS4 heads but if you wanted to use stock heads and try to get 100 - 150k miles out of it, you may want to just you that 52k block.

WMS has tuned several cars that put out more than that, reliably.
