Default would you drive your car knowing you need control arms?

I need front lowers on the passenger side but I'm heading to the snow this weekend and would prefer to take the S4 instead of borrowing a relative's car. I get some clunking over bumps and can feel it in the steering wheel sometimes. I think bushing is torn where it mounts to the frame.

I could get it into a shop before the weekend but I'd prefer to do the work myself. I won't have time before the weekend so should I take it to the shop or just drive the S4? What concerns should I have in driving with worn control arms?

Default If the bushing is just torn, and the CA isn't broken off or anything the worst you should get is

uneven wear on that tire.

I only know this from my personal experience. Pittsburgh roads are destroying my control arms one by one...

Default Probably.

Control arm wear generally won't affect the driveability of the car unless its severe. I might consider skipping a track event if the control arms were bad, but I wouldn't avoid driving the car.

Default most go with febi-bilstein kit (Passat/A4 parts) with Lemforder TREs

The febi-bilstein bushings are a little more forgiving, which I liked (plus they're way cheaper than lemforder). I tried the 'heavy-duty' meyle TREs, which dampen steering feedback with rubber in the TRE (A4 part) and they numbed the steering way too much for my taste, so, imho the S4 TREs (all metal) are worth the extra $$.

ALSO - make sure you get the correct kit for your spindle assembly (steel vs aluminum) - the lower arms are different.
