Default Not even close, try $5,000 to $7,000 without a color change at a quality shop.

Color change adds a TON of labor on top of a normal respray

Your number seems too high to me. IMHO. Maybe higher in CA or NY.

Default Nah man, he's just about right. For a GOOD shop to do it, they'd charge that much easily.

I can't even imagine getting it done right for under $4K.

Default Just check it out and see if it works for you $$ wise "if " you can't find the exact color you want.

If it works, then good, if not discard. I don't care either way. I would be curious how much a repaint really costs as I have a fair number of rock chips....

Default I'm not in either area.

But trust me, having had my car completely repainted at a reputable shop (and I shopped around), you're gonna be in that range. Anything less and you need to worry

Default Mike@VAST has a ~55k mile B5 S4 that he'll build to your specs....engine is out and car is

ready to be customized. Car is Silver w/black leather interior/maple trim, 6 speed.

Brand new parts included, and many not mentioned:

-front control arm kit
-new front axles
-solid outer tie-rod ends
-new front wheel bearings
-conversion to the aluminum uprights
-new clutch master and slave cylinders

Car also has:
-stock brakes all around with 5k miles on them
-intrax springs/koni shocks
-rear end fluid changed
-brake fluid flushed

Basically, Mike wants to leave the transmission/engine build up to the customer and have it up and running to your specifications(within reason), and have the car sold this summer. If he doesn't sell it soon, he's going to run it as a GT car this year and sell it next year. He wants to price it out as a package build/installed/broken-in/tuned out the door. The car hasn't been used as a daily driver in almost 6 years! 2001/2002 and part of 2003 is where 95% of the miles were accumulated on the highway going back and forth to work.

Here's a couple of shots:
