Default I was looking at this oil recently....

It is approved by Porsche so was considering it for that.

I think the addition of the word "ester" to the label is a marketing change rather than an actual change to the oil but even so, this does make clear that this is an ester based synthetic oil. That makes it one of the very best. I was especially interested because it is a 0W-40 ester oil.

The problem with it is that it is damned expensive. It is more reasonably priced in Europe where it has similar competition and most of the price is tax anyway, but as imported here in the USA it is one of the highest priced oils.

I wonder if Mobil 1 0W-40 changed on a more frequent interval would make more sense?

Default with 5k oil changes you aren't creating enough of a difference between these two oils to justify the

price. Only if you were doing extended drains (10k) would you see an improvement from the E-tech.

Default Waste of $ I think

If you want to spend more than $5/quart for oil, get Royal Purple Racing line.

Default And given the choice between 5K miles on M1 and 10K miles on Motul 8100 I'd prefer the M1...

I was interested because there is less of a price difference in Europe and with my Porsche I have an easier time justifying the very best.

I do think the ester based Motul oil is a better oil than M1.

Default Is Royal Purple ester based ???

And do their oils have all of the approvals?

The Motul is Porsche approved. Don't know what other approvals it carries.

Default Yep, I'd take the shorter OCI as well. That being said, M1 0w40 isn't a bad oil at all. Its factory

fill/ recommended for Porsche and does carry the 503 long service interval rating.

Default There's a few UOA's on BOBISTHEOILGUY in VW/Audis

IMO, not worth the $$$. GC is ester based and only $4 right now at AZ

Motul 0w-40 is VW/Audi approved all the way to 503.01. RP is not.

Default that's the site

I couldn't remember the name and I've even posted there a few times.

I guess I'll continue to search for M1 or get the German Castrol.
