Default GC is ester based? Sure?? :-p

For what it is worth, I also am very impressed with GC. If I want a 30 weight oil then that's my choice.

But it isn't really comparable to Motul 8100 which is a 40 weight oil. The Motul compares to M1 0W-40.

Default I run 5-40w Motul in my car. So far so good. I get it at employee discount, which makes it around 5

bucks, so I dont mind. I run an audi filter, with a Filter Mag. Good stuff. I hope.

Default My only problem with M1 0W-40 is that it doesn't seem to keep its 40 weight rating...

It starts out as a thin 40 weight and then thins out into the 30 weight catagory. It is almost as if this is intentional to reduce fuel consumption.

Default I'd agree but there haven't been enough OCIs on the recent reformulation of 0w40

to say that the new stuff does it.

The newer one has "SM" rating I think and it lost the energy conserving rating.

Default I got MaD valve tick with RP 0-W40.

when the car was warm and pushed on spirited drives, the valves/lifters would make nasty clack, clack, clack noises....

switching to Mobil 1 fixed that.

Default Well, I guess i didnt mention that RP is also not even 502 approved...

plus I think it's significant that an oil can meet the more stringent guidelines regardless wouldnt you? cheers! Mike

Default Where is it sold? Sounds good, but i wouldn't know where to buy it?

Its not as readily available as their brake and coolant fluid.
