Default Xenon Lights- Difficult Cop

I though everyone would get a kick out of this. I got pulled over last night for get this " Having Blue Headlights ". So this young cop proceeded to tell me that blue lights are legal only on emergency or police vehicles. He assumed I had modified the lights, when I informed him they come from the factory that way he got a little beligerent. Eventually he just let me go but told me to go to the dealer ASAP to get the lights changed. I'm sure he was looking for some other reason to ticket me after he pulled me over, but hilarious just the same.

Default call the DOT and have them send/fax the DOT approval statement/regulations/etc concerning.......

......HID headlights and keep a copy in your glove box. On a side note, ALWAYS ask if it is ok if you can go reaching for your glove box. We do not want you shot by some over zealous young cop. Obviously, he has not been exposed to many 'upscale' cars. Hopefully if he sees more cars like ours, he will get the idea that he is wrong........

Default I would have told him I was NOT changing them... (more)

and if he wanted to arrest me, we could look up the rules down at the station, and then I could sue him for false arrest.

But then, I do love confrontations where I know I'll win..

Default I got pulled over for the same thing thursday!

I was the only one on the road at 3:30am, doing 5 under the speed limit. I see a cop in the median whip a u-turn and turn on his flashers. Im thinking that hes gonna get me for some stupid reason, which it was.

He said they were "flashing" purple and blue. I told him that they were factory and he didnt believe me, and then suggested I turn on the high beams. I did, and Im thinking "WTF is this gonna prove?" He still kept asking me why they are blue and I told him AGAIN they were Xenon's, which he couldnt comprehend. I had to explain to him how the HID lamps work, and he still didnt believe me.

After about 5 min. of bickering with this guy, he complimented me on the car, asked some questions, and let me go. Before he left, I asked him if he was busting people for blue headlights, and he said he is not personally, but the FHP(Florida Highway Patrol is).

Go figure.<p>Scott M.

Default Good... and Bad... (m)

Well its good that they are stopping people with those annoying super white, halogen lamps. Only problem is that these cops can't tell the difference between those fake lights and real xenons. I have to admit, the Audi Xenons are a bit strange. I have seen a ton of Benz's, BMW's, etc. (own a fre of each :-) that have Xenons and they are just normal blue. However Audi Xenons do change from a bluish tint to a halogen color when a car is bouncing around. I see it all the time... that's maybe why he stopped you. My advice... don't confront cops... they are PITAs. Also don't open the glove box without telling the cop what you are doing... they'll shoot you.
