Default What's the speed rating on those tires?

Aren't most snow (winter) tires H-rated (130 mph).

Default i don't think he's arguing the tach-mph relationship. you're a bit off on that

assumption, he's just saying that the speedo is reading right!

Default Huh? My "echo" post was because of this....

Related to the tach/speedo relationship...

I wrote:
"The Speedo and Tach are linked so long as the clutch isn't sliping. So I could put any size tire on the car and it wouldn't change the relationship between the speedo and tach."

Taner wrote:
"The RPM <-> Speedo will always be correct.
unless your clutch is slipping"

Related to the speedo vs actual speed relationship...

I wrote:
"If I had a GPS next to my speedo to see how fast the car was actually travelling, that would indicate [how close the speedo matched reality which would show] how good of a tire size I have"

Taner wrote:
"The Speedo <-> Real Speed is what might be off"

Surely you can see the echo in that, yes?

Default Heh, conversations work so much better in person sometimes :)

If all assumptions are correct, you cleanly did 160+ on that run!

Congrats!

Default You never even asked what tire I had on - that's a big assumption :o)

Of course, with these, I'd be doing WELL over 160
