Default Update

The system is very near complete.

Subwoofers are installed, and so are the horns. Today they were working on the install for the Audison DRC, and the radar/laser jammer controls.

Pics below:

Here are the subs as seen from the trunk.

And here is the view from inside the car, with the back seats folded down.

The car is playing music, but I actually have not even had time to listen yet. Monday is my day off, so I will be spending the entire day in a serious tuning session.

Thus far, no reports of noise issues from the Active Noise Cancellation system. However, we have not played any music while the car was driving yet. I will report back on Monday night after I spend some time actually LISTENING. LOL!!

There is a little more than 2 inches of clearance for the woofer cones when the back seats are in the upright position.

Driver's side horn:

And passenger side horn:

We had to relocate the OBD port because of the horn location. My installer took the liberty to place it here, behind the driver's side-dash panel.

And, lastly... here is the driver's door panel, back in place. Hard to believe there is an 8 inch midbass behind that factory panel. And a LOT of sound dampening.

What's the maximum excursion of the woofers?

Aren't you worried that the edges of the horns might shorten your legs in a frontal collision? Other than that, looking good.

58mm peak to peak. There is no danger of the woofers hitting the back seats.

The only danger is that slamming a car door with IB woofers can blow out the surrounds. That's why my wife will never be allowed to ride in my car again.

No. Not really.

Sick install dude. Just sick.

Good news so far that your not getting ANC noise. My car does it while in Park.

Bose system ANC must be programmed differently than the B&O system ANC.

We will have to drive the car and test the ANC when the 4-cylinder mode kicks in. I'm not going to say we are "outs of the woods" yet, but so far it is promising.

One theory I need to test is whether or not my Audison BitOne is actually curing the issue with it's programming.
The BitOne has a calibration CD that comes with it which analyzes the factory source and will de-equalize if necessary. Some OEM sources will apply factory equalization which the BitOne is able to counteract. It might be possible that the ANC, while parked, produces a specific equalization to the audio, and the BitOne was able to defeat it.

Or perhaps the B&O system is different than the Bose?

I will report back on Monday with better info, hopefully.

I'm confused - I thought it was the Bose ANC that was causing the problem with aftermarket subs. Based upon the recommendation in another thread, I purchased one of the last DLS0410D 10" free-air subs to install in my parcel shelf, but subsequent complaints have made me wary about installing it. Any reassurances or further warnings?

I will have more info on Monday. I haven't even heard my system yet.

Heard music playing on the new stereo for the first time yesterday.
It sounds great but we have a lot of tuning work to do to make it better.

So far, no noise issues at all. No alternator noise, no hiss, and nothing from the ANC while parked. Still need to test the ANC while driving in 4 cylinder mode, however.

I should have my car back by Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Final view of the trunk, with all carpet in place. I still have almost 100% of the space available.

Here are the controls for the BitOne, Bel STiR Plus, and the Blinder jammer. All going in the ashtray compartment. Excuse the yellow tape protecting the carbon fiber temporarily.
