Default Chips in the Paint

Hello. I've had my car for about a year now and I've acquired quite a few chips in the paint. I'm curious about what other have done about this. Any good ideas other than the usual touch up paints.

Thank you.

I have used Dr. Colorchip for minor chips with reasonable success.

Yeah I have used Dr. Colorchip as well, did like 4-5 coatings to try and get the paint as level as possible...

Dr. Colorchip does have ease of use going for it, but doesn't quite due that perfect job. I think the only way to do it close to perfect is to fill in with a blob of factory paint, sand it down, polish and then spray on clearcoat. That will probably give you the best results, but also the most time consuming...

This will work best but is best left to a pro unless you are a painter/bodyman. Another way you can do it: If you use factory touch up paint it is enamel instead of base coat/clear coat and after you put on the blob and wet sand it and polish it, it will already have the gloss and will not need clear coat.

I've used Langka for a while and it does seem to do a decent job. I believe it is similar to Dr. Colorchip

Recently used Ez Chip Repair on one of my cars. Worked well. Better than the touch up paint I purchased from the dealer. Very Easy to apply and I would definitely use it again.

The tempered Southern California weather is good to car paint as far as rocks and road debris. We just don't have a lot of crap flying off the road caused by weather wash out or eroding road surface. Never had a big problem with chips with any of my cars over the last 30 years. Sure I do get very minor chips over course of 60k-80k miles but nothing from what it sounds like other parts of the country experience. Guess we're lucky like that.

I would just use factory touch up enamel and a steady hand with proper rest to fill chip... and don't "noodle" the paint once you put it down meaning don't fuss with paint once you apply it. Enamel needs to be applied and left alone seconds after you first apply it.
