Sorry guys, here is some feedback. currently have abotu 10,000 miles total on the car. Car was purchased in December.
As far as DSG goes, I had several DSG cars so maybe my perception is somewhat skewed. I did not have a problem with jerkiness when downshifting. I felt it maybe once or twice but i think the software adapts well enough over time. I do feel in comfort mode that sometimes there is a delay when it cant decide if it should be in 2nd or 1st gear. Not sure if I adapted to that by being more assertive or if the software did but i rarely encounter that issue. I do not think the APR software had anything to do with it. I really cant sense much of a drivability difference, negative or positive. Performance on the other hand, big improvement.
I know the consensus is that there cars are underrated from the factory. I do not believe that to be the case. If you look at just about every car that people think is underrated, its almost always a turbo charged car with a DSG. Reason they are quicker than a naturally aspirated manual car with similar HP is because more torque under the curve due to the turbo's and the DSG keeps the engine loaded during shifts therefore no loss of boost between shifts. I've raced stock M5's (which everyone thinks theyre overrated too). On a roll, from 45-140 a stock M5 will pull 4 car lengths on me even with the tune. From a stop, different story due to superior traction.
Overall, while quick in stock form, its perfect with the tune. I am very happy. I may consider doing an exhaust if someone comes up with a system that utilizes the existing valvetronic system.
I will probably hit the track soon again, waiting for my friends to rent ATCO. 1/4 mile times were consistently 11.7@116-117mph. Launch control worked perfect, 60 foot times were amazing for a car this heavy. Best 0-100 on my Pbox was 8.3 seconds. 0-60 in 3.7 I havent tried stock but i will try the stock mode APR tune and try to do back to back when I can just havent really found the time to get to the strip.
Sorry for the late response, didnt know search wasnt working.

Did you ever spend time on M5Board? My handle was M5Express.
Thanks again for the review, I'm taking the plunge this week.

Yes, pretty sure i had the same handle on the M5 board, had the M5 and the M6.
By the way I was referring to the new F10 M5 in the race situation. Havent raced an E60, but I expect it to be a good race if the starting speed is greater than 60. Before that the S6 will walk it with the tune.

I'm not very good at waiting for stuff to be released.

my tune is epic, keeps getting faster with each revision. I was going to say you should get your car flashed at waterfest but that is a bit far from you. If you want to see my tune I will be back in fla in jan but that is pretty far away and by then I will be stage II with full downpipes and exhaust (if it is done in time I will have it for waterfest)

Being the past owner of two tuned turbocharged cars (A4 and 335i), I would love to get this tune. But I just can't part with the warranty on a car in this price range. Hope folks enjoy it!

I asked my Brand Specialist what the worst-case scenario would be if there was a major repair that wasn't covered by warranty. Here's his reply:
"As far as cost of a random repair. Worste case (but not likely) it blows up the engine you’re in it $20,000. Turbo’s $5000. Other random major engine repairs, $8000. Transmission $8000.
Ballpark numbers, but I don’t see there being an extremely high risk. If you drive it like a rally car every day it’s a different story."
