The engine replacement cost sounds low. One of our members hydrolocked this V6T and the total replacement cost was north of $45K. I can't see our V8TT being any less and likely a lot more.

That car would have been totaled IF covered by insurance. I would think he would be better off selling the car for salvage and then using the proceeds to get a new car.

From my understanding, it was covered by insurance. Regardless, the point is more that the engine is a lot more expensive than the guy that cagambler spoke to is estimating.

Ballpark numbers, but I don’t see there being an extremely high risk. If you drive it like a rally car every day it’s a different story."
those numbers are accurate, 25k for an engine, 4660 for turbos (including manifolds) I was told tranny was more like 12k

Those numbers are enough to scare me away from doing it. I'd try the piggy back unit from TMC Motorsports first and return it in 30 days if unsatisfied.

There's nothing like a nice Sunday morning 170 mph sprint on the Beeline between Northlake and PGA. BTW, is there a limiter at 155 on these cars?

I agree.

Anyone have any experience with TMC tuners?

On the other B8 S4 board their experience with it resulted in the product being returned.

In no way is a piggyback safer. If that was the case I would've stuck with MTM and used their cantronic.

And if you think it would avoid a potential warranty issue because you can easily remove it, chances are if you blow your turbos or transmission you will not have the time to clear any stored memory. Audi will still find out. And the chance of something happening will be greater.
