Default Door Lock Button - Why?

It's been a few weeks now, and I find myself often wondering, why is unlock on the bottom and lock on the top? Seems completely counter-intuitive in addition to being completely opposite from my 2007 S6.

It's a total nit, but really bugs me for some reason.

Designed by the same team that programmed the MMI ****.

Hey, at least the parking brake switch follows the logic of a mechanical pull up handle style... up for brake, down for release.

But opposite of a parking brake pedal. I don't use it because I never know which way is on.. Good thing it has a light.

They probably got the lock button idea from WWII prison camps... "Lock up! Lock up! Lock up!"

Sad to say I didn't really understand this because I hadn't really used the MMI **** yet... until tonight. I just don't get it.

I suppose it's like the two finger scroll on the Mac. Some people like to swipe down to scroll the page down, others prefer the opposite. At least you have the option of picking your preference. Maybe in a future software update they will "fix" the MMI **** operation.

Either way, this feels all *** backwards.

Believe it or not it is all up to the designer how things work. What make the most sense to him/her is how it gets placed into production.

I my S6 I turn the **** to the left to scroll down in the menus. In my wife's BMW (I know but she had her heart set on a BMW for many years before she knew me) you have to turn the **** right to scroll down.

The MMI **** is actually designed the way it is and its quite intuitive. Its supposed to be like a volume ****, you turn clockwise to go up(volume up/selection up) and counter-clockwise to go down. Its quite simple actually. Its BMW who has it bassackwards.

Regarding the lock and unlock button....if thats really all you have to complain about, the car was designed pretty well.
