What is the rule of thumb for driving this car for the first couple months. Do you need to 'break in' the car? If so, anything you can share the best method of doing so and for how long?
Taking delivery in about 30 days.

I have received very differing advice - one dealer told me to drive it hard out of the box so it "learns" my driving style. Have seen a lot of posts saying 600 miles. Mine delivers in two weeks, interested to hear others as well...

Manual says 1000 miles. I pretty much adhered to this, but mostly because the winter roads around here have been bad so I can't push it anyway.
Now that I'm past 1000 miles, once the roads clear up, it's time to check out launch control!

As others have pointed out, there are lots of schools of thought on this. I personally drove it like a baby for the first 100-150 miles. After that I occasionally mixed in moderate/heavy throttle at lower RPMs, and touched higher RPMs at lighter throttle. One rule of thumb is don't do any of the above until the motor is fully warmed up.

I've done the following for every new car I've owned. This has resulted in a strong engine with no oil consumption:
The first steps help seat the rings properly without any glazing (which can allow excess oil consumption). Driving like a sane person the rest of the time allows all the moving parts (including transmission and differentials) to get to know each other nicely. Waiting until the car is completely warmed up (including the oil) shows mechanical empathy and will pay dividends in the life of your powertrain. The early oil change will remove any contaminants that may be present from the factory floor or from the break-in process.
- Drive the car until it's fully warmed up (depending upon ambient temperature, 20-30 minutes)
- Slowly take the engine up to about 4,500 rpm and then let off the throttle completely, allowing the car to slow under engine braking to about 2,000 rpm
- Repeat four or five times
- The next time you're out, warm it up completely, and then repeat, upping the revs about 500 rpm each time, until you are just shy of redline
- The rest of the time, drive according to the manufacturer's break-in instructions, making sure the engine is completely warm before using heavy throttle or high revs
- Change the oil once the break-in period is past
