Well my point was existing customers would lose the option to use 3G as T-Mobile decommissions 1700MHz, so I'm hoping Audi isn't hardware-tied to that frequency and either does or will make use of 2100MHz an option.

I think we all agree it would be an excellent option to be able to tether car to phone instead of just phone to car. I can argue good usage models for both ways

Wasn't trying to detract from the ongoing discussion, only to point out that it seems rather counter-intuitive to have to pay for T-Mobile data @ $15/month prepaid, considering I already have a T-Mobile phone with an unlimited data plan that the MMI interfaces with just fine.

I'll get off my soapbox and stop stating the obvious now & let you guys get back to the more interesting technical discussion.
