Default Some 4.0T boost numbers published by C&D

This is from the April 2013 issue of Car and Driver

RS7: 17.4 psi
S8: 15.9 psi
A8: 12.3 psi

This would put the S6 somewhere in the 13-14 psi range probably.

Is the A8 number for the 4.0T?

Wouldn't the S6 be the same?

Yes the article was referring to the 4.0T.

I originally thought the A8 4.0T made less HP than than the S6 application, but I must have gotten confused with something else.

And in answering your question, noticed that in the A8 the motor makes 444 lb-ft of torque while in the S6 it's rated at 406. This would imply that the turbos are making more boost across the lower RPM range, tapering off identically to the S6 to give the same HP rating.

How about because they're larger and flow more air at the same pressure?

Just for fun, compare the 'as reported by Audi' and 'as measured by APR' for the stock S6. To my inexpert eye, this makes the acceleration numbers reported in the S6/M5/E63 comparo more tangible, given that the S6 is a very heavy car (as are the other two). I have always assumed a certain conservative level of 'undereporting' when reading Audi performance numbers...well, except for gross tonnage...it seems every one I buy is heavier.*

B5S4 = 3500
B6S4 = 3600+
RS4 = 3960?
S6 = 4300?

If APR offered a factory warranty warranty, I'd buy it as soon as I got my car.

But I'm not going to risk hearing "your transmission blew up from too much power caused by flashing the ECU".

Default S7/S6 Boost Pressure

This was posted on the Zine by Arin of APR. It's the boost curve (stock and tuned) for the S7 which should be the same as the S6.
