Default White Smoke

Hey guys,

So after my fuel line mishap I upgraded to a 2014 from the 2013. Within the first week of getting the '14 I started noticing white smoke coming from under the hood/through the vent on the diver side front bumper where the driver assist sensor is. I kept an eye on it and now it's become more consistent, almost every time I park. It is white smoke and it doesn't smell like oil, it's a sweeter smell, I am thinking it could be a coolant leak or a head gasket issue.

Either way I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow. I can't catch a break with this damn car.

Anyone else ever have this issue?

Thanks,

Tony

Don't know about the white smoke, but the sweet smell sounds like a coolant leak. I had to change the coolant reservoir on my prior S6 ('07) because it was leaking and that is what it smelled like when the engine was hot. But I don't recall seeing white smoke.

There is another post on here about a coolant leak from the turbos in another guys car. He posted a picture, maybe you could take a look and see if you see something?

There is a radiator in that area. You might have caught a stone. Check your coolant reservoir and head to the dealership. You're probably going to be driving something else for a while.

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt there a TSB for putting a screen over that radiator to protect it?

And it should be fixed for free if there was no screen. Still waiting to get mine back so I can see what they did...

I don't know if that is the radiator that is mentioned in the TSB.

There is a small intercooler radiator in front of the engine radiator and air conditioning condenser. Some people caught stones in that one and it was deemed a road hazard situation that was not covered by warranty. There are threads about store bought and hardware store guards for that one. It could be both.

If someone is interested in fashioning their own custom guard, Custom Car Grills has many styles of expanded metal sheets.

Default intercooler screen

Can anyone post a photo of the screen that represents an external view that I might actually see looking under the hood or from below. I would like to check to see if I have one. The dealer said I had one installed but I am skeptical given the Feb 2013 build date.
