Default Install Radar Detector on S7

I used to have a Valentine Radar detector in my Lexus...fit nicely resting on side of rear view mirror. Hardly seen. Never moved it because no one really ever saw it.Hotwired so it went on when car went on and off when car was turned off. No cigarette lighter wires. With S7, I got a new ESCORT PASSPORT MAX and it is difficult to find the best spot. Rear View Mirror does not line up with Passport Max in the same way. I want to leave my radar detector in place and hope to have it hidden where it is not an issue that it would be stolen. The suction cup is strong and holds it is place but it is larger than life. Anyone else have a Passport Max with a better installation idea. I will have it hotwired....so no cig lighter charger wires

I just got a new MAX also for my new S7, and trying to figure out the same issue. At the moment I have the MAX located just below the review mirror on the right side. I may try to make a custom mount so that I can mount it above the mirror on the drivers side. On a separate note, it always baffles me that Radar detector manufacturers put the controls on the top of the detector, when the preferred position for the detector is as high as possible. These manufacturers must have no user interface skills in house.

You are so right on the control buttons...If you come up with a type of custome mount that has radar detector sitting on it and above rearview mirror, let me know. I will get back to you if I hear of anything.
Also, these cup holders on center console are ridiculous. The arm rest on center console overhangs and gets in the way. the cup holders are a little too small for larger cups and most important, it is an accident waiting to happen...with the MMI electronics right in front of cup holders waiting to be damaged by spilled coffee. Looking for idea on cup holder adaptors either for center console or someplace else away from electronics. My wife's Lexus RX330 had a popout cup holder on left front dashboard....below vent and above light controls....right near driver door but on front.
Pop it out when you need it and pop ii back in when not in use

I just spoke to Escort. They are coming out with new adaptor for Passport Max that you can attach radar detector just below your rearview mirror. It actually would be installed at the ball where your rear view mirror moves up down, left, right.
90 bucks!
The guy told me they run promotions all the time so he will contact me.
Maybe I can buy it for $87.50 Ha!

While this may not work for Passport Max, I use this for Passport 8500 which is essentially replaces the stock suction cup windshield mount for a 3M adhesive version.

Back when I used Escorts in the 80s and 90s, I made the same kind of mount so that it was permanent and did not require suction cups. They work just fine.

Note that putting them on the sun screen dot matrix like they show significantly impairs your reception.

Roger that, I placed the adhesive portion just into the dot matrix blackout strip so the detector has an unimpeded signal below it.
