Whats up everyone. The other day i was adjusting my seat by playing with that stupid roller deal on the side of it(which i think is the worst design to recline your seat!)and when i finally got it to the right spot, I turned on my car, and the air bag light turned on. Anyone know where i can get that cleared with a vag besides the stealership for a good price? or does anyone know why it would have turned on? I know there might be sensors under my seat for the air bag but i checked and all the sesnors are plugged in. PLEASE HELP!

1st visit, 2 days in shop - air bag light came on, VAGCOM error "driver side seat belt tensioner" Replaced but light still on.
2nd visit, 2 days in shop - air bag module replaced, light still on. Further testing shows short in wiring harness. Old module put back in.
3rd visit, 2 days in shop - wiring harness that was ordered was the wrong one & it is determined that the entire interior wiring harness has to be replaced which means removing the entire interior, dash, headliner etc. My car is a '00 with only 42,000 miles. Audi says they will pay 1/2 of the repair.
4th visit - 3 days in shop - entire interior was gutted & basically all the wiring was replaced. Total bill was just over $3,000. About $2200 of that in labor.
One month later while cruising on the freeway, light comes on. VAGCOM error "side airbag igniter driver's side resistance too high" I cleared the code & it came back a few days later.
After searching the AW archives, I pulled apart the base of the a pillar where the seat igniter connects to the wiring harness and cleaned out the connectors w/ compressed air. No more air bag light.
Fingers crossed that I don't get another air bag light code or my car gets a bullet to the head.

i hear ya man! I had a 97 that the air bag light came on too! The one now is a 2000. Might be that seat belt tensioner deal because the seatbelt got tangled when i was messing with my seat and thats when it popped on. Do you know How much does that cost to fix? and if you do clear it will the light pop back on?
