Default Got royally screwed by a local AW member after buying wheels & tires

Bought a set of 17" wheels and tires from a local member off Craig's List. The ad said 3000 miles on the wheels and tires. When I went to pick them up, I realized that the tires had a lot more miles than stated, but figured they would last for the summer then I could mount my existing snow tires. One of the tires sounded like it had something inside it (the missing cap?), so I had the tire shop dismount it. The tire was delaminating inside from being run flat and the noise was pieces of the inner casing. As all of us Audi fans know, it is not good to mix new and fairly worn tires so the tire set is scrap.

Emailed the seller to resolve this, and while he is quite active here, he will not return my email. In many years of dealing with "car guys", this is the first time I have been BS'ed like this as well as ignored. I am to blame as well for not being more creful.

Just a reminder to be careful out there when buying used stuff, even if you think you can trust the buyer.

Default Please email me if you want more info.

I figure I got a good $200 screwing and just wanted to remind people to be careful. I think the same person may have some more items on Craigs List, but I am not positive. Unfortunately, I may have also been interested in those wheels, but there is no way I would buy anything more from this guy.

I should have been more cautious on beliving the seller. As they say, screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me.

Default yes they do turn into pissing matches, but just leaving it hanging doesn't resolve anything

hopefully when the other party sees it, they can be somewhat reasonable in the discussion.

Default Caveat Emptor. Please dont' post the offending seller's personal info..

unless it's readily available by looking at the auction or for sale ad..

Default Take a look at the Craig's List info, then my description of what I got is below

http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/pts/286274918.html

The wheels and tires were fairly dirty, and that was OK. One wheel had been curbed, and I was OK with that. The tires were very worn (2/3) but I figured that I could get the summer season out of them, then mount the snows I have, which is why I wanted the rims.

One of the tires sounded like something was rolling around inside, and I thought maybe it was the missing center cap. Turns out that the tire had been run flat, or close to it, and it was delaminating on the inside.

Emailed the seller (never received phone number) and never got a reply. I was OK with everything, except the concealed damage, and that was the reason for the post. Car fans sshould not be screwing other car fans and if they do, they should get exposed.
