Default Hey "NORD1899" what ya think...or anyone else in the SLC...

I got nailed about a week and a half ago on 215 for going 80-85 in a 65. He wrote the ticket for 80 in a 65. He didn't gun me and didnt laser me. He was just "tailing me". (Mind you, this is complete BS because I was watching the ppl behind me and there wasn't a huge SUV sheriff tailing me.)

I think I might have a chance to atleast get it reduced.

My driving record isn't going to like this very much...might be suspensed for a month. Already had that happen a couple years back.

From your experience (or anyone elses), think I should fight it?

I most likely will have to fight it either way, whether I want to or not...to save my license that is.

Default So you got paced, which is perfectly legal and will most definitely hold up in court.

At least with my ticket, the cop said he paced me at 2 car lengths, when I know for a fact the only time he was 2 car lengths back was when I originally passed him and when he approached me to pull me over. But that at the time he turned his lights on, he was a good 10 car lengths back.

If you have a good driving record, they should offer you a plea with abeyance, which I would recommend taking. Basically you pay your fine, and after a period of good behavior, it gets wiped from your record. Not sure what qualifies as a good record though, probably means no tickets within the past 3 years.

The 3 days I was before a judge, they never reduced a speeding ticket. Maybe reduced the fine, but not the speed involved. If its really important for you, get a lawyer.

Default Would you think the cop "might" not show up...could win something....maybe a reduction...

I could argue that while pacing me there was no way to autheticate that other then is word.

Nonetheless radar guns and laser guns arent even precise.

+/- ~5mph

Default Given your record, I'd advise getting a lawyer. Really they are the only ones who know how to play

the system to help you out.

Default Part of it depends on how long you have been citation-free....

You may be able to go before the court and ask for an abeyance, in which you pay the full fine, attend driving school & have no points assigned to your record. But you must not have been tor traffic school for I think a year.

Otherwise, you should get an attorney, like nord1899 says.
