MMP Go karting, HUGE THUMBS UP!
Volunteer appreciation day, had the western half of the kart track to ourselves (east track was for people paying). A good 12 or more people showed up. Had a blast.
If you haven't treated yourself to the kart track there, DO IT!

roughly 14 hp karts, if you have the full 900 foot straight, probably in the range of 45mph
But it feels faster, cuz you are 2 inches off the ground. Lots of fun though.
And yeah, $55 for 1/2 hour. Should be something like 3 ten minute sessions, because trust me, you'll want the break.
Today learned the whole understeer/oversteer thing with the karts. Had one kart for a session that oversteered like crazy, had to keep countersteering it. Then later had one that understeered like a pig (gee kinda like an Audi), and OMG was that frustrating.
Assuming the weather holds up, I'd be up for heading out there the first weekend of Nov (out of town this weekend, Skip Barber racing the next).

IMO, the better route is $20 for a ten minute session
I don't think the track workers are very strict about the ten minutes, and that way you get breaks between sessions. That track is a blast!

I went out there with a group of people from the Vortex, set it up ahead of time with Mitch Wright
we did a 30 minute block, but it was basically 3 ten minute sessions. So you got a much deserved break. I doubt they'd let you drive for a full 30 minutes without interruption.
And given that it takes 30 minutes to drive out there, each way, 10 minutes of kart time seems awfully small.

We have to wait another month before we get our 1 run in (Nov 18th projected open date)
Next time you are in SLC, we can head out to MMP and let you rip up the go karts.
If I had the cash (need roughly $5k total), I'd totally pick up a used kart for racing next season. Something like Rotax, which is one of the cheaper race series due to the engine being sealed (kinda like a Spec series). But I'm cash poor right now, so it will have to wait a little while.
