Default Merry Christmas to you as well...

… I saw on your signature, that you once owned a TR7… My mom was a great sports car buff and in 1977, when she was shopping for a new car, it came down to a Datsun 280Z and a Triumph TR7. We went back and forth, driving both. My mom loved the shape of the TR7 and the smooth gearbox - she was underwhelmed by the power. The same guy owned both dealerships and quietly whispered to me - don't get the TR7 - they are unreliable… I had already been working at a motorcycle shop for three years and wrenching/racing my off road bikes (Bultaco and Penton), but had also spent many frustrating hours chasing The Prince of Darkness (Lucas) on Triumph/BSA/Norton bikes in our shop. Nippon Denso was starting to make pointless ignition replacements for the recalcitrant Lucas stuff. I was also helping a friend restore a TR4 in his barn.

How did your TR7 ownership go? I often think that our life diverges on such decisions as the Z was bulletproof and I got interested in building 4x4's, which led to the wilderness and a future as a an ecologist and wildlife biologist…

Happy Holidays

I loved the TR7. I didn't find it to be underpowered, it was just a 4 cylinder, but it didn't have any body weight to speak of either. The Triumphs were known for oil leaks and electrical problems but I never incurred either.

Q: Why do the British drink warm beer?
A: Because Lucas makes (ok, made) refrigerators.

I know the TR7 well (enough). they were actually pretty cool I had a TR8 for a bit too.

Well the A8 was lit-up like Christmas tree > see my p-brake fault. And my son's TT is still in the shop, we are getting the suspension done, partly under warranty.

And well Lucas Entertainment was a stinkin' FLOP!! Same stupid plot, re-hashed cliches and same war vs darkness. So this time I'm goin' rogue:
