What's the point? If you are already having to pay $499/18 months for the service what's the point of using your own SIM card?

What year car do you have? Mine is new, and it appears that if you want any of the AudiConnect features (like traffic, google online searches, news, weather, yada yada) you need to have an AudiConnect plan ($499/18 months)

That's correct for the latest USA MIB2 equipped Audi models. The sim is internal and locked to AT&T via Audi's Prime acct. Earlier years used T-Mobile and then added AT&T (in 2015 or 2016 depending on Audi model). Other providers' sims, like Freedompop, which source from T-Mobile and (I believe) AT&T will work with pre-MIB2 Audis. MY2012-2013/2014 used T-Mobile or one of the T-Mo 3rd party providers.
Other countries use different systems and providers.

We bought our 2013 Q7 new. It came with 6 months, unlimited data service through T-Mobile (AudiConnect plan), 3 months SiriusXM radio & 4 years SiriusXM traffic (Info & Nav overlay). AudiConnect services are free. When T-Mobile redid their network to add LTE, reducing data service to 2G for incompatible devices, Audi & T-Mobile upgraded the cellular radio in the affected cars (to match that of the newer cars ~2015?). The side affect was they now support AT&T & T-Mobile...

Does that mean that if I have the 18 Q5, the freedompop wouldn't work? My trail just ended.,

Should be a pretty inexpensive experiment to try out. FP is currently having a 1¢ SIM sale.
Freedompop works on the GSM network (ATT & Tmobile). I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Perfect., just order., when i posted, it was @ $17 and didn't want to hassle with the cancellation if didn't work. But this is worth trying. Anything we need to do to get the audi to accept the FP sim?

cant tell if anything is working on my 18 Q5

after the obe11. At least now I see the 3G on the bottom left of the MMI But I no place to enter the APN settting and one baby tips

May 2018 update. First time poster but having been reading here for awhile. Just wanted to give an update that I was able to get the FreedomPop 3 in 1 LTE Sim Card working in my 2015 S4.

Card came activated from FreedomPop and I got it for 1c. It came about 4 days after ordering.

Here is what I used to get it working:

Phone menu

Data Settings

APN: fp.com.attz

username- click the space key once
password - click the space key once

Google Earth, Search, and Audi Connect options all are working.

Cheers!

Don't forget to downgrade your plan before the 30 day trial ends. Else your bill will be like $60+ a month. Downgrade to just the 200mb data plan.
