RS4 Cabriolet top not working
We are the original owner of a 2008 RS4 Cabriolet. Last summer the convertible top stopped working (thankfully with the roof up). When we try to open it the windows go down and the top opens about an inch but no further. We have already replaced the top motor and it made no difference. We also tried to guide the top through the manual reset procedure but were unsuccessful because the top jammed halfway through the process of putting the top down. We gave up on that process and when we tried to close the decklid the hydraulics had also jammed so we just popped them off at one end and manually closed the roof. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? Any tips on dealing with the manual reset? I suspect we did something wrong in that process but not sure what. The Audi dealer wants $3600 for an entirely new top mechanism so I am willing to try any home repairs to avoid that.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I can’t help. I was curious because I’m planning to buy an RS4 Cab this year and thought that this would be good to know about. I guess you’ve probably checked on the A4 cab forums, much higher volume of Cabriolets there.

Any fault codes? Is the top light in the dash blinking? We had a 2008 Cab and the only problem we ever had was the top light was blinking when operating the top motor but still working.
Local Audi dealer adjusted and lubed it, problem never came back. As you must know by now techs that really know these top actuators are pretty hard to find.

similar problem BUT
After dealership installed new battery on my '16 A5 Cab, tried to put top down-the windows worked BUT top light flashing -top cannot open- no motor sound
Any thoughts?

welp. this just happened to me yesterday. After not trying for a while I started the car again and it worked. Then when I got home it did the exact same thing. Did you ever solve this issue?
