I purchased my 2017 Audi Q7 in August 2016. The vehicle is advertised as requiring servicing and oil change every 10,000 miles. Unfortunately, my vehicle has never made it to a 10,000 mile interval without the yellow oil indicator light come on. When I asked the Audi service agent , he states that the car does not typically make it to a 10,000 mile interval because of the large engine. Over the past 5 years the interval to add one quart of oil has been less and less. It has gone from ~9500, 7500, 3000 intervals. On July 22, 2021 I took my car in for the 80,000 mile service. The actual mileage on the odometer was 80,304. The car service was complete and returned. On August 16, 2021, my yellow oil indicator light came on at 81,588 miles. I called the my local Audi Service and was advised to come in for an oil consumption test. I also notified the National Audi Customer Service line to voice my concern for my car. I inquired if oil consumption is a known issue in the Audi Q7 2017. There was not a clear admission of this concern in their vehicles but it made me concern that this could be an issue because of historical issues with Audi's early consumption of oil. I am concerned because this vehicle has the oil indicator light come on in shorter intervals which make me concerned about the longevity and reliability of the engine.

I have the same car bought just about the same time. An early 2017. I also need to top off my oil (less than a quart) between oil changes. Mine, however, has remained constant at just about 9,000 miles from the prior change. As a matter of fact, just topped mine off last week with about 900 miles to go before the oil change. Sorry to hear your consumption has been worse. Keep us posted and good luck!

I have a 2017 early production Q7, delivery was in April 2016. I only had to top it off with oil once in the last 2.5 years. However, I'm only putting about 6K miles a year on the car, so my oil change indicator ⚠️ comes on due to date and not mileage. 🤷🏼♂️

76K on mine with many tuned and hard driven miles but I do oil changes every 5K and never have had the low oil light come on. I have seen the level drop noticeably since the last OCI, but never really close to the bottom of the MMI gauge which means you need to add a quart, that is when the dash light comes on.
Keep us posted.

66k on our '17 (built in July '16). I do 5k oil changes and the level typically does not move from Max.
Earlier 3.0Ts (going back to the C7 A6, B8 S4, etc) have had some oil consumption issues but is usually due to the PCV valve that sits under the SC. Not to say its not out of the question for some earlier 4M Q7s, but may be worth checking the PCV valve at 80k miles. If the dealer is doing an oil consumption test, they may recommend this as a next step based on the test results.

Got my 2017 used with newrly 48K (kms) - original owner followed service to the T which means oil was thick black as it sat at dealership lot through winter season. Original owner didn’t rotate tires regularly uneven wear and seeing steel braid of two tires of same side - nor did he/she care for the exterior condition - paid to have her 2stage polish and Revivify nano coated. As soon as I acquired it, oil changed every 7k (kms) and consumption is at half a quart every oil change and oil thickness and color is better.Currently at 79k (kms) and engine runs smoother like new every oil change. My suggestion to you is order a dipstick because it’ll give you a better (nearly precise) readout of how much oil you have to monitor - I ordered one because I don’t trust that sensor warnings since Audi rid oil dipsticks

Certainly makes oil changes easier. But I still don’t trust the sensor after a ridiculous diagnosis I was given.Basically I did an oil change. Next day it low level oil in red stating very low oil.Which was impossible because I filled under 7qtz. then. Hours later, yellow low oil add a quart of oil. So I took it to the dealer thinking I need a new oil level sensor - which was what I was hoping they’d tell me then I replace it because of the diagnostic fee of over $170CDN. Then rep tells me I lack a litre of oil that I didn’t fill enough - I thought I made a mistake and lost my mind so I let it go. They topped it off and all was kosher, paid the fee.I went back home and did a recount of the oil change kit I purchased from them, I had emptied all 7 containers which was within spec. Apparently I wasn’t the only one whose encountered such a predicament. I ordered a dipstick - at least for 3.0T engine.

My 2017 Q7's Oil consumption was great. Changed every 5000 miles. But once I passed 75K, I noticed that my oil consumption got progressively worse.
I use to top it off every 4000 miles with 1/2 to 1/4 quart of oil.
Now, after I passed 80K, I need 1/2 a quart every 1500-2000 miles.
The only difference is I'm towing my RV a lot more so I wonder if that impacts oil consumption.
at 80K, I had dealer check out the engine and they didn't see any leaks. They suggested an oil consumption test which I would have to pay for. First part is $247, drive vehicle for 650 miles, and second part is $330 and drive another 650 miles. They take measurements to see if its within their permissible tolerances. So I'm out $$ before they even figure out what to fix.
I went back at 81.5K to have the oil topped off with 1/2 quart.
No way I'm paying $$$ to do an oil consumption test. I guess I'll monitor it for now. Unless anyone knows what else I can look for. I was thinking of hooking up the car to VCDS module and read some numbers but not sure where to read
