Default 2.0t 40 differences/octane requirement?

Just picked up a 22 A5 with the 201hp 2.0. I would have preferred the 45, but this is the one the wife wanted and it is her car. Anyway, I assume this is the same engine in the 201hp A3 and Q3, or am I wrong? The A3/Q3 both recommend regular, but the A4/5 recommend premium? If the tune were any different, wouldn’t the ho/tq ratings be different?

Also while looking at Audis website, the Q5 40 is regular fuel as well.

What does the sticker inside the gas cap say? Also, even if it's the same engine the different platform could have different tune/octane requirements.

sticker inside gas cap says premium. The Q5 loaner we have (same hp/tq) says regular.

I guess check the owner's manual, then ask the dealer.

Default That 201hp motor runs stronger on 93 (R+M)/2 octane

It's even better with an ARP stage one tune. Lots better midrange part throttle performance and stunning to 80mph and higher but you need to use 93 octane all the time. I suspect the ecu would compensate with lower octane fuel, but i won't risk it with the ARP tune.

Does APR make tunes for the b-cycle 2.0T (the "40" engine)? And do they have tunes for any of the EA888 Gen4 engines with the mild hybrid subsystems (MY21/MY22)?

The '22 B9 "40" is 201 hp / 236 ft-lbs, not the same as the '22 8Y's 201 hp / 221 ft-lbs. When you work out the numbers and consider the type 8Y's (Mk4 A3) much stronger 48v e-motor, it would seem the ICE component in the B9 types is tuned to about 15% more peak torque output than the type 8Y's.

It's much more likely that the Q5 "40" fuel requirement is a typo. What I find very odd is that there are no EPA applications for the Q5 b-cycle. The b-cycle 2.0T application documents only the A4 sedan and the A5 sportback.

The greatest advantage of the "40" in the A5 sportback is it doesn't come with that hideous front bumper.

The answer according to the EPA is Premium.

Correct, the 40 is a new engine based on the miller cycle (https://www.e-hike.net/tr/content/au...-190-hp-47-mpg), my wife's 2018 VW Tiguan had the same engine but it was tuned to 186hp if recall correctly and took regular gas. Looks like Audi has tuned it up a bit for their application which could be why they are asking for premium gas here.

EDIT: Checked the APR website and the tunes are currently for EA888 Gen 2 and Gen 3 engines only. I don't think the 40 is one of those but not certain.

I don’t know if it’s tuned up much, the mild hybrid adds 13hp.
