Want to change oil and use a dispstick to verify the calibration of MMI readout. Do you know the OEM dipstick PN? Do not want to use $6 dispstick that can contaminate the oil.
There is no such thing for the EA888 Gen3. You can get a T40178 special tool (look for clones on amazon or such; the actual Audi special tool from Snap-On is just too much for a private individual) that will let you check the oil level calibration. But it's only for level checking; it is not suitable as a dipstick tube plug for a running engine.
The numbers to configure the T40178 is top ring on 60. Then the oil at 0 should be at the bottom of the display bar and the oil at 16 should be at the top of the display bar. This is for the CYMC and DBPA engines in the MY17-MY20. The Gen4 mild hybrid engines in the MY21+ use slightly different numbers (58, 0, 18)
This is a nicely made piece that I'd buy again (at the 25% off rate, at least) and will not disintegrate after prolonged exposure to underhood temperatures.
However, the billet aluminum handle gets quite toasty after a few minutes of engine operation, so be prepared for that.
You may wish to purchase a replacement cap for the dipstick tube to have as a spare. The cap is reusable; but, if you are not careful you can break off one of the retainers on removal. It can also slip out of your fingers and drop down beside the engine; but, not out the bottom. Then you are into removing stuff to try and find it - or just use your spare.
There's no need to ever break the tabs off. Make sure you rotate the cap 90° and then pull it off. And after reinserting it, rotate it 90° to lock the tabs under the flares on the tube. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-.../#post25664247
As for the ECS tool, so is it correct for the B8 or the B9? Because it definitely cannot be both. It can't even be the same for different engines within the generations. Using Audi's own documentation and drgertol's contribution (https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-...stick-3034152/), we come to this:

Reason: png is clearer than jpg for this purpose
If we extend that to the commonly used Gen1/Gen2 2.0T dipstick, from the transverse engine in the VW products and Audi clones, we get:
There is also a 06K (Gen3) 2.0T dipstick, 06K 115 611 B. I don't know how it compares to the 06J (Gen1/2) 2.0T dipstick (which I believe is now rev L, replacing rev E). 06J and 06K are transverse engine bins, so not the same as the 06H and 06L longitudinal bins, which have no dipsticks. But usable enough.
CPM uses the same marks as the B8.5 Gen3 2.0T, CNCD. It's interesting that the B9 Gen3 (evo/b-cycle, in green) has such different marks from the B8.5 Gen3 that it's essentially the same as. * (ok, becomes pretty clear why the difference when you look at the lower oil pans. B9 Gen3 might be based on the B8.5 Gen3, but the oil pans are nothing alike)
I have the ECS dipstick on our 2018 A4 Quattro PP, Sport Package/S-Line - 252 hp engine. Works perfect and shows full when MMI shows full. The fact that I had to buy dipsticks for both our A4 and my /15 A6 3.0T was annoying but at least the tube for the stick is still in the engine bay. I was looking at a Volvo the other day -- no stick and no tube. This is not progress in my view. Checking oil level electronically an answer to a question no one asked IMHO.
I have the ECS dipstick as well. However, the oil level is always above the mark no matter if I change the oil myself (with the volume equal to the volume vacuumed out) or dealer changed the oil in couple occasions. I tried other’s suggestion not to insert complete, still above the high mark. Since the MMI never shown overfill so I am not worried.
