Default New RS Badging

https://www.reddit.com/r/Audi/comments/1djvmm5/new_badge_premiered_on_the_rs_etron_gt_it_will/

It looks like Audi is buying their own badging off wish.com.

Eh, it's fine. Interesting that they changed the font. I thought it might be their new corporate font, but it's not.

Audi, like all other car markers, is giving lower tier models the same design cues that were once reserved for higher end models. BMW does it with M badges all over lower tiered vehicles and now Audi is doing it with the red rhombus on regular A models.

The new RS font is terrible. I don't mind that they separated the font from the red rhombus as it sort of got lost inside it before, but at least they could have kept the italics so it flowed and lined up with the rhombus.

Spot on - It looks dumbed down and as John English posts above, it's a trend. MBZ is plastering AMG whereever it will fit.

Yeah this is obviously being done to allow for the rhombus to be used on S-line vehicles (such as the Audi A5 S-Line) where the performance is a bit better but still not on the S level. Similarly, the grille badge was removed entirely (a very rare case of down-badging with German cars), most likely because EVs don't really have a grille to clip into. Anyhow, somehow the new sport badging looks cheapest on the seats, which is even worse because you can debadge the car and swap for the old one if you care that much, but you're not finding an OEM trim piece for a new car that will have the old badge on it.

LOL, the new facelift for the RSQ8 was announced today, and it has the new badge on the back of the vehicle, but the old badge on the seats. Nothing says $140k super SUV like inconsistent badging.

I think the interesting thing about the RSQ8 facelift is that Audi is now offering a base RSQ8 and a RSQ8 Performance model with an additional 40 HP. Audi seems to be following Mercedes AMG with their base and S models and BMW M with their base and Competition models. I wonder if we'll see base and Performance versions for other RS models going forward.

My guess would be “Yes” if the marketing geniuses see that it increases both sales & PROFIT. It seems that as the enthusiasts brands have gone more mainstream it has become more about profitability and less about performance for the enthusiasts. Just my somewhat jaded opinion but it seems correct to me.
