UK: Shaking when coming to a stop and idling

Hi all, first time poster here. When I brake down to a stop in my A4, the car often starts shaking when it's idling. It doesn't seem to matter if I shift into neutral (it's an auto). It'll keep shaking until I use the accelerator. It only takes a momentary tap on the accelerator and then it idles normally from that point. It also feels like the problem is worse when the AC is on, if that's any help.
I've done a search around the forums but I'm not sure if this is the same problem as described elsewhere.
Any help much appreciated!

Do any codes come up with a scan? That should be a first step. You could have a vacuum leak or a sticking idle stabilizing valve, which you can clean. The engine stumbling with the extra AC load might indicate that.
I'm not familiar with the auto trans issues, so hopefully someone else will provide some input.

Thanks @desertsage , I don't have my OBD tool with me at the moment but will give it a scan when I can. I think what you've suggested makes a lot of sense, though, thank you.
