'98 A4 Quattro belt tensioner issue

Default '98 A4 Quattro belt tensioner issue
So in the continuing saga of the boss's '98 A4: Our mechanic ordered a new timing belt tensioner kit (aftermarket) for it and the kit looks nothing like what's there, although they insist it is.
Unfortunately the kit has no provision for attaching to the hydraulic damper. Is a correct replacement available? Is the damper available as well?

Pictures of the new tensioner? He may have bought your the upgraded mechanical tensioner that is used in newer models.
