I recently purchased a 2023 Audi A4. The car is indicating that an oil change is needed after only 1,100 miles. The car was built in June of 2023, and the dealer says that it needs an oil change after one year. The dealer wants to charge me $300 for the oil change. Is this a normal charge? Would it be wise to go to a local shop and pay $100?

Yes this is normal. The oil is supposed to be changed after 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Old oil loses its properties and is bad for the engine.

That dealer quote is probably for the one year service, which is the oil change & a bunch of inspection boxes to check. Some dealers do a tire rotation, state inspection & smog inspection(if applicable) which could account for the $300 price. I would ask for more details from dealer.
