Default Transmission /Gear selection

Hope everybody is doing good . I'll be brief . I am a industrial diesel engine specialist and I am familiar with VAGCOM so don't kill yourself on the reply . You all may get a laugh out if this , jokes are welcomed . I have a 2006 A8L 4.2 . As far as mods its only borla cat back and GodSpeed coilovers . The car is lowered a little. I was driving down a lake/boat ramp access road , 20 mph speed limit . I was leaving and after crossing a newly placed culvert in 2nd gear at a lope I gave it about quarter throttle ( in manual mode ) . I had forgot to get my binoculars off the dashboard . I **** you not they slid off and hit the shifter square on right as i reached over to shift to third . Simultaneously the Trans hit 1st gear , front right drive shaft left the chat and the inner guard (Trans side) that goes around drive shaft was ejected in pieces out in front of the car . Trans fluid all ran out . Will not take any gear including park . What are the possible scenarios here ? Does it prevent itself from taking a gear when it loses fluid ? Does It have a linkage issue ? Also does this car have a parking pin ? Any feed back will be greatly appreciated and save me some reading . Oh yea one more question . I am not familiar with this transmission. Being that the shaft broke at the Trans, how bad is this ? Sorry about all the questions . God Bless .

Those shafts are bolt on type so if it was as violent as you describe, maybe some of those pieces ended up inside of the hole in the transmission that seemingly was created during the event, jamming it up? It sounds really bad for that to happen. The transmission is a ZF 6 speed variant and there are SSP documents and maintenance guides available for it (search is your friend). Time to start looking for another transmission in my opinion. You will need new cases at a minimum for a rebuild.

Thanks for your reply . I wish I could give more Info of the current state . Been a long day . Hopefully tmrw. As far as the pieces I mentioned , it was only the guard on the Trans. However there was a grease cap . I have no idea where it came from . I assumed it came off the drive shaft .
