I'm selling my 2004 Audi A4 with 156,500 miles on it due to a stalling problem I haven't been able to fix. It might be as simple as fixing a coolant leak or it could be more complicated. I've had the air mass sensor and fuel injection boot replaced, but neither fixed the problem.
I took it to two mechanics, neither of whom was an Audi expert, and they were unsure how much work it would require, but they told me that fixing a coolant leak that's leaking onto the RPM sensor might fix the problem. I'm done putting money into the car and don't know much about how to work on it myself.
I was hoping to sell this car for considerably more, but due to the uncertainty of the issues, it's priced much lower than the market value. The car looks good and is otherwise in great condition and hasn't had any other problems during the eight years I've owned it.
The stalling issue has been occurring for about a year. It will go months at a time without stalling, but then it may stall several times in one day before the issue goes away again for an extended period. When it was having a stalling episode, it would only stall as the car was coming to a stop. The car always started immediately afterward, but recently it's been taking longer to start after stalling, which I was told is likely due to the coolant leaking on the RPM sensor.
The car is located in Riverside, CA.
