Mike and the IW staff really did impress me last week. I called Mike to make an appointment to pressure test the Avant. Mike informed me that they were slammed, but he'd see what he could do to get me in ASAP. It ended up that the only way I could get the car in was to drop if off the night before the service appointment so they could work on it while I was away. Mike offered to stay at the shop late and wait for me to arrive so that the car could be locked up in their garage overnight and so that we would have an opportunity to discuss my car's symptoms. Mike called me promptly the next morning with news about the pressure test. Apparently I was MISSING an o-ring that sealed the drivers side turbo intake to the Y-pipe assembly. This was causing the car to run lean and knock on a fairly regular basis. This o-ring is a pretty obscure part and proved to be difficult to locate. I was on a particularly tight time schedule and wanted to participate in a track event that was taking place the next day... So waiting to find an obscure part wasn't really so appealing. After called all the local dealers and parts suppliers, it wasn't looking so good. At about 5 pm, Mike sent one of his guys to a local Porsche / Audi / Ferrari dealer to compare the passenger side o-ring to everything that the Audi / Porsche parts department had. The came close a few times in the Porsche parts bin, but never found a match that was close enough to work properly. On a whim, the tech started rummaging through the Ferrari o-ring collection and found a PERFECT MATCH. The parts were purchased and installed on my car, and they finished the job around 7pm. To accommodate my late-pickup needs, I paid over the phone and my car was parked outside the gated area of their garage with the keys locked inside. At 10pm I picked up my car (with a spare set of keys) and drove home, enjoying all the boost I wanted and none of the knocking that I had previously experienced.
So I'd like to publicly thank Mike Rooney and all the guys @ IW for all their help (and resourcefulness) in getting my car running again, and in time for the track event. It's difficult to find someone honest to wrench on your car and I'm grateful to have found an Audi specialist that is local to me that I can trust.
If you're So Cal and need some work done, call Mike @ 866-464-2834.

The guys at IW are great! Mike has done very nice work on the coupe and as you say he's always honest and tries to save you some $$ as much as possible.
... he's good at putting bad ideas in my head too... "hey you should put a 4.2 32v V8 in this thing..." lol.

Mike worked on Porsches first, then jumped to Audi when they started kicking butt in the Pike's Peak challenges. He worked first at a dealer as a shop hand, and then a technician when he was a young man, then moved on to work with Audi AG, making several trips to work on special projects at the factory in Ingolstadt. He is the winner of the very first US Audi Tech Challenge, and still the only person to ever attain a perfect score. Mike became the shop foreman at Rusnak Audi of Westlake, then opted to hang out his own shingle, (Ingolstadt West), in Canoga Park. That was something like fifteen years ago, and you'd have to search long and hard to find a disappointed customer, even after all those years. More recently, Ingolstadt West have embraced the aftermarket world, having become APR, Stasis, and Neuspeed dealers. They're happy to install just about any vendor's product, so long as it doesn't create a hazard. They're innovators too, having modified and created designs for unique applications for me, several times.
DeutchDriver's experience is not atypical.

Over at Audizine there seems to be a lot of guys who have had their Tein's installed poorly and not set right. That's a concern I have about getting them, getting bad install. Knowing that Ingolstadt West could do it right, would make me much more willing to get the Teins.

I'm sure they could and would do it.
I know they've installed a variety of coilovers including two sets on my S4, and worked pretty closely with Stasis to resolve issues associated with the Motorsport kits. They're pretty well versed, so I don't suppose they'd have an issue.
Kevan usually does the suspension work there. You'll probably talk to him.
