not on the "Kobe" it's something like $25 for 8oz. uncooked beef...
In my opinion the Regular beef they had was actually better than their "US Kobe beef."
as I said it's personal preference... I've gone to sushi for 2 that was asurdly high, but the fish was some of the best I've ever had. So it's not just about price, I guess I just didn't like the place.
Come to think about it i may return, our waitress was a cutie.

What size party? What kind of budget?
Off the top of my head:
$$$$ - Melisse, Santa Monica. Best food I've ever eaten, but be prepared to pay for it. Tasting menu is awesome.
$$$ - Chloe, Playa Del Rey. Great food, friendly service but very small. Probably my favourite restaurant in LA.
$$$ - Fogo de Chao, BH. Ate there this weekend, food is reasonably priced considering its all you can eat, but drinks are crazy expensive. Great food, large restaurant, but noisy, and only caters to meat lovers
$$$ - Jiraffe, Santa Monica. Great food, cope well with parties of 8 or so.
$$$ - Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Beverly Hills. Best steak in LA (IMHO).
$$ - Gyu-kaku. Fun, but difficult to get in to. They have really annoying and unhelpful rules about booking. Can't book unless you have 6 or more, and can only book in two pre-specified time slots per evening (7pm and 9pm IIRC). If you turn up without booking expect to wait for 45mins or so. I love their food, hate their policies.
